Costco, Washington, DC always has this wine, and it's always $7.99.

Black licorice, subtle vanilla, and muddled black cherry meet the nose. Very pleasing, integrated aromas for such an inexpensive wine.

Cherry, sap, pine, and black licorice flavors punch through a medium bodied mouth feel. The sap and pine characteristics indicate the wine was probably made with a fair amount of Lodi, CA fruit. Lodi fruit, in my humble opinion and experience, tends to impart a sappy, piney quality to wine. I'm not crazy about that quality, but here it is rather tame.

Overall, this wine is a mindless every day drinker. Nothing bad. Nothing great. At the price, though, I keep buying it. 13.5% ABV
